Julian's hermitage, attached to St Julian’s Church, was pulled down during the Reformation, but it was rebuilt after wartime bombing.
Today the Julian Shrine is a place of stillness and prayer in the midst of a busy city. Pilgrims come from all over the world to reflect on Julian's theology of love and its meaning for our world today.
The church is open daily from 7.30am to 5pm (or at dusk in winter). It is a vibrant part of the parish of St John's with St Julian's, and its upkeep and beautiful environment are lovingly maintained by the Parochial Church Council and members of the parish family.
The Administrator of the Julian Shrine is Fr Martin Smith, the current rector of the parish. Mass takes place at the shrine on Mondays at 10am, on Wednesdays at 7.30pm, and on Fridays at 5pm. Prayer requests are offered at the Friday Eucharist.
The Julian Centre is located adjacent to the church.
